The weeks between getting possession and moving in go quickly. Doing things in the right order saves money, avoids redoing work and helps you move in on time for your griha pravesh. Tick off each step as you go; this checklist is saved only on your device.

Before possession

• Get the final floor plan and electrical drawings from your builder.
• Share the floor plan with your interior designer so 2D and 3D designs can start early.
• Decide your priorities and budget: kitchen and wardrobes first, or the full home.
• Fix a target move-in or griha pravesh date.

At possession: inspect the flat

• Walls and ceilings: check for cracks, damp patches and uneven plaster.
• Plumbing: run every tap and shower and check for leaks under sinks and in bathrooms.
• Electrical: test every switch and socket, and check the main board.
• Floors: tap tiles to find hollow-sounding ones, and check balcony and bathroom slopes.
• Doors and windows: check they open, close and lock smoothly.
• List every defect and ask the builder to fix it before interiors start.

Before interiors start

• Book a site visit so every room is measured accurately.
• Plan electrical points with the interiors: TV wall, chimney, hob, microwave, wardrobe lights, study desk and AC points.
• Approve the 2D layouts and 3D designs.
• Choose materials and finishes from samples and approve an itemised quote.
• Check your association’s rules: work timings, lift use, deposits and any permissions needed.

During the interiors

• Finish any civil and electrical changes first.
• Install false ceilings before the final coat of paint.
• Install the kitchen, wardrobes and units.
• Do the final painting and touch-ups after the woodwork is in.

Before you move in

• Walk through every room and check shutters, drawers and lights.
• Collect warranty details for woodwork and hardware.
• Arrange a deep clean.
• Install appliances, curtains and lights.

How long does it all take?

Most of our projects are delivered in about 35 days after the design and materials are approved. The design stage before that depends mainly on how quickly you review and approve.
